The inspiration for this project came from a desire to offer New Zealanders a venue for high quality live entertainment.
Event manager - Nigel Rowthorn has worked in the music industry since 1978 providing event management, production, and/or sound for the following types of events:
- All Sweetwaters Festivals in Ngaruawahia in the 1980s
- Dozens of major concerts at Western Springs in the late 1970s through to 90s – featuring international artists such as David Bowie, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Elton John, Queen, Dr Hook, Jonny Cash, The Eagles, Neil Sedaka, INXS, Charlie Pride, Leo Sayer, Dire Straits, Little River Band, Feetwood Mac, Paul McCartney, Pat Boone, Roberta Flack, James Taylor, Joan Armatrading, Anne Murray, Rod Stewart, Fat Boy Slim, The Ramones, Bob Marley and the Wailers, Radiohead, George Benson and many many more.
- National Events - Christmas in the Park, Church Road and other local Jazz and wine festivals, Royal Command Performance, Commonwealth Games, Eden Park, and many local and international TV and live events in various indoor and local arenas.
The venue opened in 2006 with a summer concert season presenting the finest of New Zealand's Jazz, Blues, and Country artists. Our intention is to present New Zealand's finest musicians, the best of local wine and gourmet picnic foods for the pleasure of a discerning audience. It is our sincere wish that people enjoy these events. To ensure this, we have designed a spectacular show - quality musicians, expert sound, and superb lighting displays in a natural amphitheatre with intimate garden bar ambience.
